You know there’s going to be a lot of great action when a new combat sports training facility opens in Bayport, New York! It has archery (cool!), judo (cool!), and fencing (cool!)! It also has danger – lots of it – as Iola and Frank find out firsthand in the beginning of the book and then later Joe! 😮 And they’re not the only ones. So they need to find out what’s going on with the sabotage hitting the facility, investigate the motives of the suspects and stop the potentially deadly situations fast.
“When they say this is the Combat Sports Training Facility, they really mean it, don’t they?” Joe asked his brother.
“Yeah,” Frank agreed. “Tonight somebody took the name a little too seriously.”
A lot happens in the book without it being too much, which is cool and a good balance. The writing style is enjoyable and believable. That is very much appreciated and makes a great Hardy Boys mystery.
It’s great that Joe and Frank’s girlfriends, Iola and Callie, are in the book. They’re cool characters. 😎 Also cool are the Hardys brothers’ parents. The Hardy brothers dad, Fenton, is away taking care of hackers in California and their mom, Laura, is very strong holding things down in Bayport. I like how good and strong both Fenton and Laura are. 😎
Con Riley, as the book notes, is a friend of theirs from the Bayport Police Department, also makes an appearance during the action of the case. Con’s a good guy and has helped the brothers on many cases. 😎
So many great scenes that I’d love to tell you about. I love Joe’s brave rescue that saved a visitor’s life. I like that Frank’s proud of Joe. 😎 Quote from Training for Trouble: ‘”No way this will work,’ someone said.” And that’s why it’s good that not just those with that attitude were there. That someone was wrong. One of the reasons I love the Hardy Boys books (and Nancy Drew books) that I’ve enjoyed reading, is the never give up attitude. No matter what, if something is good and right, such as saving a life, you never give in to doubters and negativity regardless of the threat.
I did say there’s plenty of action and danger throughout the book and you won’t want to put it down. You just can’t! Like when Joe gets injured at one point – scary! And calm Frank helping him. Good brothers. Then there’s some much needed humor a short time later, which, like in real life, is so essential to survival! 😎
So you’ve got clues for the dangerous mystery, suspects, motives, danger, courage, excitement, mystery, brotherly love, humor – all in there! 😎 Do they stop the sabotage and culprit(s) in time? What, you think I’m going to spill that? Gotta read and find out! 😉
The Hardy Boys #161 Training for Trouble is a great HB mystery and I’ve read it more than once so far – and I plan to read it again. It’s an exciting read every time. Check your booksellers and libraries for this book (in paper or ebook) to see what all danger can be found when training for trouble! 😎
